Jeremy George (2004) survived his first year as a Ph.D. student at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Jeremy will continue his studies there and begin teaching as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Baruch College in the fall.

Karen Hellman (2002) is finishing her internship in the photography department at the Getty. She will soon be returning to New York where she will continue her doctoral studies at the Graduate Center and resume her Graduate Teaching Fellowship at City College. Karen is also a recipient of a Kress travel grant to do research for her dissertation, "Antoine Claudet and the 'Spaces' of Photography, 1839-1867."

Bettina Riccio Henry (1994) Since completing her dissertation "Lights, Camera, Art: John Baldessari, Ed Ruscha and Hollywood Film" at the Graduate Center in Fall 2006, Bettina has been doing research for the Brooklyn Museum of Art in support of opening the new Sackler Center for Feminist Art. She is presently working as a free lance instructional designer, researching and writing web-based, interactive educational materials.

Sachiko Hisajima (2005) is part of the catalogue team for the upcoming exhibition "Making a Home: Contemporary Japanese Artists in New York" that will open in September at Japan Society. Her MA thesis advisor Dr. Reiko Tomii, is the managing editor of the catalogue. Sachiko is writing the section containing the 33 artists' bios.

Argyri Katsaridou (2003) continues to work as a curator at the Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki (Museum Prize, Council of Europe, 2005), www.mbp.gr. This year she has published articles on "Pandelis Xagoraris" and "Georges Touzenis" and written the Critical Catalogues Raisonnés of the artists' work based on the archival files of the Tonis Spiteris Archive, Teloglion Foundation of Arts to be published in Greek, English and German this summer. Argyri has presented a paper "Representing Byzantium: the Narratives of the Byzantine Past in the Greek National Museums" at the Setting the Frames conference, part of the Making National Museums conference series, Linkopings Universitet, Sweden, February 26-28, 2007. This was a joint paper with Katerina Biliouri; proceedings will appear soon in the electronic publications of Linkopings Universitet. She also presented the paper "Exhibiting Multiculturalism: Classical Tradition and Contemporary Controversies", at the Migrations conference, University of Reading, U.K., a joint paper with Louisa Avgita.

Lin Ma (aka Sophia) (2004) (BA 2006) is currently working for Ralph Kaminsky, former Dean of the School of Urban Economics at NYU. Kaminsky and his wife, Hester Diamond, are both patrons of the arts. Sophia will accompany them to Shanghai for a huge art fair in the fall. The couple is introducing her to important figures in the art community, helping her build a great network.

Ellen Rauch (1999) is still in Arizona where she works at Acosta Job Corps Center instructing trainees on employability skills. She also recently joined the Tucson Writer's Group.

Hiroko Sumi (2003) continues to work at the Tama City Cultural Foundation in Tokyo. ("www.parthenon.or.jp/").The foundation administers music halls, a theater, cinema, and a small art and history museum. Hiroko is in charge of the art section. Most recently she curated the exhibition Scenes from Tokio City Ð Prospects from the Train 1981-2006. Her essay on contemporary Japanese photographers working with the urban environment as subject matter "Panoramic Tokyo City from Train Views" appeared in the catalog. Hiroko is also organizing the Parthenon Tama Art Contest, a juried exhibition with three judges who will select fifty artists. Visitors to the exhibition will be encouraged to vote for their favorite candidate to help determine who will win the grand prize.

Sydney Van Nort (2005) Sydney wrote a pictorial history about City College, The City College of New York, as part of The Campus History Series. She gave a presentation on April18, 2007 about the book and had a book-signing reception on May 15, 2007 hosted by Prof. James Shields. Details can be found in the press release. She continues to curate exhibits at the City College Library. If anyone would like to help with the research for future exhibits, please contact Sydney. The fall 2006 semester exhibition regarding Morris R. Cohen, the namesake of the library, will become an on-line exhibit. Several of the previous exhibitions that Sydney co-curated are already on-line.
